A Slice of Life

I have not used Tumblr for quite a while now.  I have been out of the loop when it comes to the internet.  Life’s been busy.

It has been a year since I graduated from Cal State University, Northridge.  Went back to see some of my friends graduate this year.  Going back to my Alma Mater did bring some fond memories.  I am glad to say I will be going back to school.  I will be pursuing a Teaching Credential. I start my program in August. 

As for the past year, I have done quite a lot.  I am a substitute Teacher, an interesting experience.  Got very close to doing A Streetcar Named Desire… long story. 

Academic School Year is almost over at Brawley Elementary, and I am easing into working with College Students in an English Class.  Lots of teaching - getting ready for the credential program this coming fall. 

Hopefully I’ll be more active when it comes to Tumblr.

Earlier today, one of the Boys died today.  Robert Sherman and his Brother Richard made some of Disney’s most memorable music! He will be missed greatly!

I was very sad to hear these news! Rest in Peace Ernie!!!! I’ve many fond memories!

I remember seeing Ernie chilling with his guitar near a corner in New Orleans Square. I had to stop for a moment and listen to him play. I was looking forward to going back to Disneyland to hear him play again, but I just found out that Ernie has unfortunately passed away. Ernie was the last cast member that Walt Disney originally hired. You can read more about him here. 

This is truly heartbreaking as I am sure many people have fond memories of him. He will be missed. 

Today, we had our first meeting for Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire.  I will be the stage manager for this show.  I am excited to do theatre again.  It has been a while.  This would be my first production with NoCCA (North County Coalition for the Arts).  Once again, I will be able to say I have rehearsals.  It will be a busy couple of months, but all worth it.  Hope to see you in performances May 4-6 at Palmer Auditorium in Brawley, CA.

• DAD: Why does the clock on the microwave say "27 seconds"?
• ME: I re-heated some chicken and I took it out before the time was up?
• DAD: Why?
• ME: Why, what?
• DAD: Why did you take it out before the time was up?
• ME: Because the chicken was already done.
• DAD: But it still had 27 seconds left.
• ME: Dad, it was re-heated, I put the chicken for two minutes and it didn't need the two minutes, so I stopped the microwave!
• DAD: But the 27....
• ME: JUST PUSH CLEAR!
• DAD: (Dad pushes the "CLEAR" button) Oh, it's 8:30.

• New's Reporter: There was a bombing in Nigeria in a Catholic Church....
• Dad: What happened?
• Me: There was a bombing in Nigeria.
• Dad: (Watching the report)... Is Nigeria in Africa?
• Mom: Yes, yes it is.
• Dad: FINALLY I get something right!
• (Mom and I laugh)
• Dad: I knew because the people in the report were black....
• (I sigh)

I’m driving on the freeway and I am stuck behind this car that has the turning signal on, for miles I might add, and never turns… And just as you are about to use the passing lane, he/she decides “oh, this guy has been behind me trying to pass for a while perhaps I should change lanes!”  And as you change lanes, he/she changes lanes too!!!
